A model of practice helps organize one's thinking, where-as a frame of reference is a tool to guide one's intervention. A frame of reference tells you what to do and how to evaluate and intervene with clients. Furthermore, frames of reference have research to support the principles guiding evaluation and intervention. First published in 1980, the model of human occupation (MOHO) grew out of Dr. Gary Kielhofner's master's thesis and practice in the mid 1970s. While Dr Kielhofner has remained the primary person working on MOHO, it has always been the result of collaborative efforts. The Model Of Human Occupation (MOHO) frame of reference in occupational therapy is based on theories and assumptions given by the Mary Reilly. Initially, it was originated as a model, but later on, it evolved into a frame of reference.
